The DEA promotes education for a just and sustainable world and is a national network working to change education in the UK for the better. DEA believes that UK education should put learning in a global context, fostering:
- critical and creative thinking;
- self-awareness and open-mindedness towards difference;
- understanding of global issues and power relationships; and
- optimism and action for a better world.
This means changing both what people learn, and also how they learn. DEA works to influences policy, improve educators' practice, and raise the profile of education for a jsut and sustainable world. As well as a wide range of publiucations available on the DEA website, DEA also manages the Global Dimension website - this is a free online database of 'global' resources, which also offers guidance for teachers, teacher trainers, advidsors and deveklopment educators showing how a global dimension can form part of everyday classroom activities.
