Apples and Snakes

England's leading organisers of performance poetry. Apples and Snakes was set up as a performance platform which would be a vital social and cross-cultural activity in performance.

During their sessions, performance artists work on creating group stories, use chants and action verses and look at patterned language within stories. They have a list of several artists who have experience of working with groups of very young children through a variety of workshops and story telling activities. This includes:

-  Marleen Vermeulen of Tam Tam Theatre.  ‘Specialising in cross-cultural storytelling through high quality theatre… which combines fascinating puppetry, traditional storytelling and wonderful visual images’.
-  Jane Grell, storyteller and poet. ‘Uses aspects of the African-Caribbean oral tradition, i.e. rhythm and ring games, songs, poems, stories with movement and lots of audience involvement’.
-  Jan Blake, storyteller. ‘Specialises in stories from Africa and the Caribbean... Jan’s vast experience and limitless enthusiasm make her an absorbing performer.’
