Cultural Co-operation

The main part of the work of this arts charity is the Diaspora London Music Village Festival bringing together artists and performers from around the world who are settled in London.

However, the charity also runs an established education programme celebrating cultural diversity and the arts. This programme works to, among other things, nurture and develop the innate creativity and confidence of young people through celebrating cultural and religious diversity. There is also a focus on skills acquisition for both pupils and teachers.

There are teacher's packs available to accompany artist residencies in schools. The programme includes 1 day workshops, mini residencies (intensive 1-2 day workshops) or maxi residencies (4-10 weeks) - the latter including both pupil workshops and INSET for staff.

All workshops cover music, dance, drama and visual arts together with the exploration of particular traditions in depth ie African Diaspora - Drama and Music (spirituals) of the American Slave Experience.
